It was a year ago this time of year that we realized that we were going to be blessed with this sweet girl:

Yes РWe went from the Wizard of Oz (last year) to being pirates (this year).

P.S. This was her doing. ūüėČ It’s totally her!

We are pirates thankful for our found treasures. May you all have a Happy Halloween!

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”¬†(Matthew 13:44)

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21)

Where did the first part of his life go? I feel like his baby years were just a dream. Thankfully we have pictures of him growing up to prove that we actually lived it. ūüėČ

He turned 5 this past July after his little sister was born. As you have noticed… it was busy, and we are late. We were finally able to take his 5 year pictures this month at Rader Family Farms. What a cool place to be during the fall. We got season passes and truly have enjoyed our times there. They have an old Chevy pick-up there, and we were able to take a few pictures in front of it before we headed off to play.

Each part of what we do here at Roots Photography & Design is special to us and important from…

  • Meeting new clients and reconnecting with those we have photographed before
  • Coming up with the session that will fit our client the best and discussing those details
  • Getting creative at the session and thinking of new ways to “wow” our clients
  • Creating and planning custom orders for our clients: wall displays, cards, and special gifts…
  • Sitting down with our clients to talk about the art we created together and help them decide on their treasures… to
  • Ordering and packaging and delivery…
…But one of our favorite parts is the editing process. We like to make our images become something that our clients cannot achieve themselves. To take a moment in time that we captured on our camera and to make that image come alive… it makes our hearts race!! In fact, it is hard sometimes to sit still until the image is complete. We usually don’t show before and afters but for this little guy, we thought it’d be okay. ūüôā

Here are a few more from that day…Our big boy¬†is enjoying his Kindergarten¬†days.

Our little man still loves to kiss, hug, snuggle and hold hands with us. I am going to enjoy this while it lasts!!

The other day I was volunteering at school, and he asked for a kiss goodbye. As I leaned down to hug and kiss him, I heard one of his classmates say, “eew gross!”. Thankfully he did not hear… for which I am so glad! And with a big grinning smile, he waved goodbye to me.

The day will probably come though when kissing and hugging mommy will not be the cool thing to do, so I will have to prepare my heart for that. In the meantime, I am enjoying these special moments I have with him!!

Landon,¬†our buddy… take your time growing up. Mommy & Daddy¬†love you so much!

We got to photograph this family at their beautiful new home. This house was designed and built by a member of this family and his company РForm3 LLC. This house is so amazing and has such unique design work.

We had photographed these sweet darlings before and now got to meet the rest of the family. It was an enjoyable evening with the entire group.

We are still alive and kickin’. Along with it being the busy season, we have had a few changes around here… The biggest being that Tater recently got a new job! Our hours have changed quite a bit, and we have had to move our photography schedule around. We thank our awesome clients for being so flexible!

The family you see below has become more than clients to us. These friends have been so kind… they even made us a meal after having our baby a few months ago. We first met this wonderful family at this session. Look how big that little newborn is now!
