We were so excited when Tater came home and said that he was the highest bidder for a Creation Museum package from the Midwest Food Bank Gala Auction. #1: It meant that we were going to take a family trip and #2: It meant that we could see what the Creation Museum was all about. Well, we got to take the trip, and it was enjoyed by all! And so… our first visit to The Creation Museum:

The first thing we did, before the day got too hot, was take a walk through the beautiful botanical gardens. The surroundings were so beautiful!
Loved this area. It was getting set up for a wedding that was taking place that night.
This peacock was chasing a bird.
The stroller couldn’t go on one of the bridges, so I took an alternative route. So glad I did. It was fun looking at the family from across the way.
The petting zoo was one of the favorite hot spots of the trip. The kids could have stayed in this area for hours. I think we might have. The kids take after their daddy. They were totally into it. I had fun watching it all until they placed the food in my shirt and the goats started attacking me. Not cool.
Love this pic!
The joys of feeding the goats.
Camel rides were next. We all got to take turns participating. A camel is now on the wishlist of our animal farm someday.
Cooling off on this HOT hot day.
B. was so excited about the snakes that she saw throughout the museum. She wanted to hold them really bad. When given the snake, she said she was holding it wrong. It had to be around her neck. She must get her love of snakes from Nana. 😉
After lunch, we watched The Planetarium Show. Our oldest couldn’t believe how big our universe is. It really was an eye opener for him. We also went to a movie in the special effects theatre and to a Snakes Alive workshop. We about dropped the big snake because it was so heavy. That kind of freaked our littlest one out as you can see.
I love moments like the one pictured below. These two were best friends – taking care of each other and talking about who knows what.
It was the museum’s 5 year anniversary when we were there, so we got to enjoy a picnic at the pavilions where extra activities were going on: balloon twisting and face painting.
On the 2nd day we did the walk through the museum. The museum walked you through the The Seven C’s of History (Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation). It brought God’s master plan together and was great to see!

Before we left, we had to go back out to see our goat friends. Here she is teasing the goat. It was hilarious. The goat was trying to figure out what hand she had the food in and couldn’t. She thought it was so funny.

This trip was fun and memorable. It definitely sparked a hunger to learn more about God’s Word, and provided opportunity for some great talks with the kids. We hope to go back, and are really looking forward to the opening of The Ark Encounter!!

Below is a picture the museum took for us. 🙂
