We are doing great, and we have been busy as I’m sure you all are too… We finished up the school year which seems like a blur now. I ended up having vein surgery done on my left leg from continued vericose vein pain from my 4 pregnancies. My leg is healing, and I hope the pain will be gone soon. Yay! Before all this happened, I was on a frustrating phone call with insurance. After hanging up and not getting any answers, I broke down in tears not knowing if the surgery would be covered. My daughter came up to me and asked what was wrong. I told her that my legs hurt and that I just wanted them fixed. She asked where she could kiss it to make it better for me. It melted my heart. If only it were that easy. Thank you to all of our family and friends for the help and prayers! :)  This week was a great week of Vacation Bible School, celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary, and taking care of sick kids. I am ready to relax a little and have it feel like summer now.

***We ARE booked for the remainder of 2011. This includes our Mak a Dif sessions as well.***  If you are interested in a session in the future, please stay tuned to the blog for further booking information. Meanwhile… you all can still get these fabulous frames from us!!!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we wanted to share some of our love to our fans that support us. It would be our wish to gift each and everyone of you but from THIS contest we found our winner!!!

The winner will receive this 8×8 frame in the color of their choice!!! These fabulous frames are made by The Organic Bloom. It is a new product line of frames we will be offering anyone who is interested in them. You don’t have to have had a session with us in order to get these fantastic frames!

Thank you to all who took the time to participate in the contest! We appreciate the time you took to write a comment to us. There were SO many of you with great answers!! We loved reading them! Here are some of our favorites of you guessing how the session ended:

  • In a trip to the ER (Thankfully that did not happen!)
  • Paint fight! And that we joined our kids in the fun! Too funny! (Something that we would do.) ;)
  • That there were tears… (That definitely could have happened with our dramatic crew!)
  • That Tater was in his skivvies - (You think? - haha) ;)
  • Brought in snow to paint! (Good idea!)
A lot of you were right on with your guesses!! :) It was too hard for us to pick who had the most accurate, so we went the easy route with a random number generator. And our winner is….

Comment # 14! BROOKE you won!!!

You may choose the frame to be the color of your choice from the frame color above or the colors you see below. Congratulations to you! We’re so happy for you. You’re gonna love it! :)

Thank you to all who took part! Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Yep, you read it right. We are expecting our 4th little baby! It seems so unreal. We are early in telling, but we are very excited. I also didn’t want to fake feeling great all the time. ;) We told our family on Halloween by putting what you see above in their trick or treat bags.

Here are the kids all dressed up…

On October 11th, photographers throughout the United States and beyond are coming together in support of breast cancer research. You can find more information at Images for a Cure website.

We are opening up sessions where 100% of all session fees collected for this date will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®.

We have a passion for this cause…    About 1 1/2 years ago, we had a close friend pass away from breast cancer after battling it for about 10 years. We were able to photograph her and her family 3 months before she went home to be with Jesus. We are so thankful that she was able to see the birth of her first grandson and take care of him the first few months of his life. Those images are still so precious to us and the family. She was one to always do things for others, and we are so thankful for the memories that we have of her.

Hitting closer to home, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2005. At first, when you hear the words, they seem so surreal and hard to believe. Thankfully she did not have to undergo chemo or radiation. She had a bilateral mastectomy in December 2005. We can still remember how horrible it was to watch her come out of that surgery. At one point, Tater noticed her breathing only 2 times a minute and had to notify the medical staff. It was a tough first week of recovery, but we are so blessed to have her healthy and with us today. My grandma has also had to fight the fight of breast cancer, and thankfully is a survivor too.
After my mom’s recovery, my mom planned a surprise party for all of those closest to her that helped her during her rocovery (her mom, sisters and daughters). She hired my dear friend, Christin, to be the party planner. Christin is excellent at this, and we all had a ball. When we first arrived, we divided into 2 teams and had a video scavenger hunt. If you have never taken part in one of those, it is a blast. We were given 21 things that we had to accomplish, go find, or do. You have to capture it all on video. We watched our created movies, laughed a bunch, chatted, ate wonderful food, and received the gifts that my mom gave us all (including pedicures for future fun). It was an evening that was filled with love and celebration.

Since we have prior committments on Sunday, Ocober 11th, we are offering our sessions on Saturday, October 10th. If you are interested in booking a session with us on October 10th to help support this cause, please contact us at haley@capturingroots.com to book and talk about your session. 100% of your session fee ($175) will be donated. You also will receive 25 free Chistmas cards from us for sharing your heart and money toward this cause.

Kristen with Images for a Cure featured us on the blog. You can check it out here.
